Diagnosis

At Bazzi MD, we use a range of testing protocols to diagnose mechanical and neuromuscular abnormalities. We review all test results with our patients, hoping to determine the best course of action. As part of our diagnostic program, we use:

Medical Ultrasound to view muscles, tendons, soft tissue, and lesions. When we need additional imaging, we prefer a medical ultrasound to an MRI or CT scan because we can easily perform the diagnostics in our office without the added expense of visiting an imaging center.

We use X-rays to assess bone and skeletal conditions, which may have a high comorbidity with mechanical or neuromuscular conditions.

Electromyography (EMG) measures muscle response or electrical activity in response to stimulation we provide to the nerves. We use this test to detect conditions like muscular dystrophy, myasthenia graves, radiculopathies, ALS, and more. This test is a quick way to learn more about your condition without sending you to a specialist or resorting to invasive procedures or tests.

The nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test is also known as the nerve conduction study (NCS). We use this test to measure how fast an electrical impulse moves through your nerves. NCV tests can also diagnose nerve disorders, such as carpal tunnel syndrome or Guillain-Barré syndrome.

In addition, NCV tests can help us find the location of abnormal sensations, such as numbness, tingling, or pain.

These specialized testing protocols offer our patients added convenience and quicker diagnoses. Contact our professional and compassionate team at Bazzi MD at 313-740-1111, info@bazzimd.com, or contact us online for an initial consultation or additional service.
